Before Evita, before Phantom — a 21-year-old Andrew Lloyd Webber and a 25-year-old Tim Rice released Jesus Christ Superstar as a concept album in 1970, a full year before it ever hit a stage. This MCA first pressing double LP features Ian Gillan of Deep Purple as Jesus. One of the most audacious debut statements in the history of musical theatre.
